Paige Brown, Vengeance of the Virtuous

This piece was inspired by the classic Baroque style in movement, contrast, and composition. I love the rhythm of the animals and craved some dramatic violence, but didn’t want to kill any animals, only feeling okay depicting the death of a man. I painted parts of this piece with misogyny and religious trauma in mind. Some symbolism includes β€œthe man,” the purity of sacrificial lambs, and the grace and beauty of cranes; I aimed to flip the script and allow the victims of a harmful gaze to indulge in violence as retribution against a long-time attacker.
